I would have posted this in the hitting forum but since there hasn't been a post there in almost 2 months I figured it would work better if posted here. I am having problems using my hands in my swing and am instead using my front shoulder to start my swing. As a result, my front arm is baring and I am getting long around the ball. Does anybody know of any drills that could help me exphasize the use of my hands and get rid of this issue?

Yup, the bat throw can be effective.  Yes, hands are part of the equation.  But let's back up a bit.  Your swing should be starting from the ground up.  Balance.  Stride/Load.  Create torque.  Fire with the back side.  Then, later, arms and then hands get involved.  I often find that an "all arm" swing can be due to what happens (or doesn't happen) prior as opposed to lack of hands afterward.

That said, some other drills for staying inside include tee work where you select a mark on the inside half and drive the ball oppo, oppo front toss, fence drill, super-slow-mo video analysis on pitches away and middle-out.

With oppo tee work, I'll often draw a line or set a line of balls on the ground to help visualization of an inside-out bat path.

Full on guessing here since I've never seen you swing: but my guess is this has a lot more to do with the lower body and the relationship of your hips to your shoulders, and how far or close your hands are to your body.

You shouldn't be starting a swing with anything above your waist for sure.

The swing starts from the ground up and the hands are the last to move to the ball. Load the weight to the rear, stride while maintaining center balance, the back side rotates from the ground up. Back knee, back hip, (build torque in the core between the hips and shoulders)back shoulder, (stretch the rubber band) hands get through while the barrel goes to the ball (release the rubber band). Hands to the ball, in my opinion is a bad teach because it's the definition of casting.
