Son needs a -3 now that he is entering high school. He's interested in Easton s1 and Easton Mako. He is 6' and 130 lbs. (bean pole). Has always been a contact hitter and has not done well with end loaded bats. Can y'all share what your kids used this past school year and how your kids liked their -3 bat performance. Thanks as always!

The S1 (Composite 2 piece) should be balanced and swing light. The Rawlings Velo (Alloy 1 piece)is also a balanced, lighter swinging bat.
My son swung the Easton XL1 and Demarini Voodoo, which are both a little more endloaded.
The most economical thing to do is get last year's Rawlings 5150. Can be found cheap and are balanced.
Personally I still swing an old RIP-IT Prototype. You can find them for $60 I assume. Still have zero problems hitting bombs. Indian, not the arrow.
Son switched from Easton S1 to Rawlings 5150. I can tell you the Rawlings is much mire durable since it's aluminum. Son broke 3 S1's. I would also go with the 32", 31 seems a little short to me for his height.
My son, 5'10" and 150 but very fit and strong, uses a 33" Rawlings 5150 Velo. Hits with some power. Great bat and great price. Only "but" is that it is a loud bat. Indoors, could be described as annoyingly loud. Good luck.
One of the great things about the Rawlings 5150 recommendation is that they now have .5 sizes. 31.5", 32.5" + 33.5". Since my son was a tweener this Summer, he used a 31.5" and plans on using the 32" he got end of last year this Fall & Winter. Very cost effective and durable considering all of the other high dollar costs associated with the game these days!

My son has used that bat for 2 seasons...and is picking up another to have a back up for next spring/summer. He just committed to school that uses Louisville Slugger, so he's also going to pick up a Raid to use a little bit next summer...as that's what he'll have to use in the fall when he gets to school

Now is a great time to buy last year's model at a reduced price. Take the savings and invest in a gym membership and an extra meal a day
Seriously though, it is the perfect time to start getting stronger and maybe packing on a few pounds. Here's a link for proper weight gain... you can do a search here and find lots more.

My son just moved up to drop 3 BBCOR. Over the past couple of seasons, he used a Rip-It drop 5 and an Easton XL1 drop 5. Both bats were great, however I noticed that he did better with balanced bats (hit a few bombs with XL1 but was inconsistent). He is 5-9 130. We considered many bats and he loved the feel of the DeMarini CF6. He has used Rip-It and Easton exclusively so I was a bit hesitant but he's the one swinging so DiMarini it was.
He has been swinging the DiMarini CF6 beautifully and is more consistent "barreling up" on the ball. It is a 32/29 and it was a good choice for him. Good Luck!
Feel free to keep suggestions coming, this may be a lengthily process.
