Dual Participation Rule

I'm pretty sure that there aren't any restrictions. 

But, you better not let your travel team schedule interfere with your HS season.  Or stated another way, you best find out what the coaches rules and reprecussions are for missing practices and games.  (However, I am not familiar with GHSA rules).

They give a specific example:

NON-SCHOOL PARTICIPATION
SITUATION: A student is a member of a high school soccer team and a club soccer team whose seasons run concurrently. Is this permissible?
INTERPRETATION: Yes. There is no state regulation prohibiting “dual participation” on the part of a student. The high school coach may not be involved in the non-school program, however. A local school may impose a rule prohibiting dual participation.

At my son's school JV and V were given a speech about absolutely NO travel teams, no lessons, no ANYTHING with another team.  They want ONE voice coaching the kids, anyone discovered participating with another team or coach would be dismissed from the HS team. 

The way they explained it made sense.  The HS JV season is very short, tryouts are on 1/15 and the last game was on 3/31.  They don't want a player fighting with their HS coach about "Well my instructor said that the way you want me to do it is wrong", they also want to keep track of how many pitches a kid has thrown in practice and in a game.  There is not ONE way to swing or pitch and the HS guys generally want you to do it their way.  If the kid wants to play in HS then he has to do it their way, after the HS team they can do it another way, but the season is too short to spend it fighting with a 16 year old.

In our area, travel teams stop training right as the HS season starts and doesn't pick up again until after the HS season ends.  Is your school not allowing participation at all?

Good point.  That is true for my son's school as well.  However, it was complicated last year by him being a 14u 9th grader.  His TB season did start in February but he couldn't join his team until 4/1.  Lakepoint picks up for 16u in late May, which is when school lets out here.  If your HS team goes until 5/25 because they made the state championship your travel team is out of luck.

Yeah, your travel team is out of luck, but for recruiting purposes, if your HS team is playing in the state tournament keep those college coaches abreast of where your state tournament is playing and the times.  Usually, the college season is over by late may for most teams and the college coaches come out to watch guys they know about, are following, or are committed to their program.   (At least the colleges driving distance away.)  Sophomore year, that's when we knew some coaches were following keewartson.
