My son is considering graduating in December 06 and starting at a Community College in Jan and playing spring ball in a non-high school enviroment. He has a couple of DIII's interested in him for Fall 2007.

Any roadblocks that might diminish his chances?
Any suggestions to provide the best opportunity?

Thanks!

JR - I'm not sure you'll find many here with that actual experience, except for maybe Soxnole. I'm sure there's lots of opinions though and probably a big variety of 'em!

The primary thought I would have if my son would have done that would have been the senior year experience. He was really close to his "buds" and would have missed all the senior activities and another year of HS baseball.

It all goes so fast that I just can't imagine loosing the tail end of it. However, I'm sure others will see things a bit differently.

Whatever he chooses, best of luck in the journey!! Smile
Questions vs answers: are you planning on playing with the community college, if so that would take away a year of eligibility from your DIII school.

You also need to check the transfer rules, I heard something about being able to transfer to a 4 year school if you are NCAA eligible vs not being NCAA eligible, but have no clue what that means.
