Our son, who is a freshman this year, is excited about finally being able to play baseball on the high school level.

We have been looking for a team in East Texs for him to play with for over a year now, but with no luck! No one seems to know of anyone and we just don't know where to start.

If you know of a team that is looking for players and is having try-outs, please let us know. He is really very good!

He is a second baseman/shortstop, but he can play every position except catcher.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Good info, Texan -- but your list of Metroplex teams require a significant commute. I know this is becoming more common and we have a very good player from East Texas (Hughes Springs) and one from Mexia on our roster. The commitment from these families -- and others that do it -- is difficult for me to grasp. (And people think WE'RE crazy! Smile )........the thread on the recent Mineola tourney lists a few organizations that are true East Texas groups.
Heck, we're driving 200 miles most weekends (boy am I glad to see gas prices easing back down). But if you want to play with the best...

You are right, though PD. It does take a lot of commitment, and it doesn't make sense for everyone. But if this player wants to truly find out how he stacks up, a summer with one of the top tier teams would do the trick.

His first post on the General Items forum had asked about teams in Tyler, Longview or Dallas. So I assumed they were willing to make the commute.
