Should be a good one at Granby today. Last time LT and Granby played it went extra innings. I do think this one will be close as well. Not sure who LT will be using in the mound as Taylor Erby is probably still recovering from Friday's win over Maury...regardless it will be another chance to see Coach Zebro in a Granby uniform which is still weird for me to see. Go Titans!
I'd be willing to bet that Granby takes this one. Without Taylor pitching it's a crapshoot. Inconsistency at best. If Granby is patient at the plate they'll get on base and score runs.

I'm guessing that Schulte may be pitching for Granby. He's inconsistent as well but is better than the other LT pitchers.

Athough, as it always does, it will come down to defense. And that nod goes to Granby.
Granby is giving up less than 2 runs a game. If they score more than 2 they should win. In there 4 loses they scored a total of 2 runs. They should pitch Hemmerich who threw last game or Eagle who threw a no hitter against Maury and lost. Granby has the best D by far in district just can't put the ball in play enough against upper lever pitching.
I have to differ from Diamond Stalker. Lake taylor's pitching is the reason the team is 9-2 in district. Taylor is not your normal pitcher. He is a legit Division I prospect and wouldn't even surprise me if he got some offers to be drafted after his senior year. The kid is that good. Most HS hitters will and don't do well vs. 87-88 MPH pitching and he's only going to get stronger.

As for the remainder of the pitchers, Justin, Andre, Joe and Chase have all done really well this year on the mound. Every team has a chance to win every game (just look at Wilson-Maury), what usually dictates a W or L for Lake Taylor is defense...if it's on Granby has no shot...if it's bad, I like Granby's chances.

I think Granby will go with Hemmerich as I heard from the LT boys that Schulte pitched a few days ago so he may not be ready.

I wholeheartedly agree with you about Taylor. His bat is also just as strong as his pitching.

And hopefully whoever throws will have a good night and a sound defense behind him.

I just think that beating a heated rival twice in the season is tough to do.
Gents,
I was completely wrong yesterday. LT's defense was very good. The 1 error by Justin Erby did not cost any runs.

The key here was LT was just "outplayed" by Granby. Granby had more fire in their dugout and determination to win and scratch and fought it's way and got 2 key hits to score enough runs. Pitching was stelar for Granby.

For Lake Taylor Justin Erby was almost as good. Problem with him is he seems to always have a bad first inning, which in yesterday's case was the 1 run difference. I saw Andre Costa warming up in the 6th and 7th but there was no need to bring him in. Hat goes off to Granby and Coach Butler and Coach Zebro...and you are right, I think LT has to beat Churchland...this is a possible 1st round game for the Titans on the playoffs.
Excellent win by Lake Taylor. Taylor Erby was shaky early not because he was pitching poorly but pitching selection was not good. You cannot keep calling fastball when batters are sitting dead red. From the 4th inning on, catcher started to mix it up a bit more with sliders and curveballs which kept Churchland batters really off balance.

This was a much needed win. Good coaching job by Coach gray who kept the boys mentally in the game. Lake Taylor was ready to play! Got to see what happens with Maury now as they still have Norview today and I believe Churchland next Tuesday.

Congrats on the win. Glad those bats showed up and that Taylor pitched a good game.

I've been watching and coaching many of these kids since pre-teen and always root for them.
If Maury beats Churchland Maury and LT tie for first and playoff for title and auto bid to Regionals Granby 3 Churchland 4. If Churchland beats Maury LT wins district and auto bid to Regionals and Maury, Granby, and Chuchland tie for 2nd. Dont know tie breakers for seeds but those three split 2-2. As long as LT and Granby win.
I'm confused. In one breath, you say this:

And then you say:

I have seen him pitch a few times. While he is good, I haven't seen 87-88 out of him. Also, I don't think Churchland's hitters are good enough to handle 87-88, so I would call fastball 90% of the time.
redbird5,
that's because against Churchland, he DID NOT have his good fastball. I did not have my radar gun with me but he looked to be throwing no more than 81-82 that day. When he has his good stuff he is definetly overpowering. Last time I checked I think he did have a 5-0 record...but personally afterwatching these teams twice, I do think the Truckers offense has the most firepower.

Agree, during the beach blast churchland struggled greatly against guys with good velo, Bynum held his own but rest of the team struggled.

Congratulations to those boys! You must be proud of your son!. It's been many years since their last District title. Good for them.
Hydra, I do not know how you could possibly call the thuggery shown at second base on that last call Granby's fault. The first two altercations could be seen as "honest" disputes over who got the base first. In fact, the dispute at first base saw players from both sides shaking hands moments later. Many boys from both teams are friends and former teamates. But that last bit, the one where the Norview thug was purposely cleating a Granby baserunner stealing a base was pure unadulterated thuggery. It warrented police coming and the game being called. One bad apple....C-Ya Norview.
