Granby has Louis Singleton and he is very good. Lake Taylor has some very good young players and Churchland does as well. In fact, Churchland went to the State Jr. Legion Tournament and knocked off a very good (and defending champ Albemarle team). But while Maury does not have its two aces from last year it can throw a lot of guys who stepped up in Post 60's 3rd place showing in the State Sr. Legion tournament. Bashara, the shortstop, (committed to ODU) threw very well in the Legion District and State Tournaments. Triplett came out of no where and threw really well in the State Legion tournament. The catcher, Overcamp, is a great change of pace pitcher and Drew Williams (2nd and 3rd) can throw both the junk and a very respectable fastball. Aguirre is also another arm who is very effective when he is on. Parker (only a sophomore) is very good also. Another sophomore, Warren, will also get some innings and has good pace.
So while Maury won't have last year's aces, they may be deeper and more balanced than last year. Maury will play good D and they have good speed - especially in the OF. For Maury, it will all come down to hitting.
