Bracket 1 - Chatsworth
Bracket 2 - Camarillo (tough bracket)
Bracket 3 - TO
Bracket 4 - Toss up
Bracket 5 - Crespi
Bracket 6 - ?
Bracket 7 - ?
Bracket 8 - Moorpark (Would take Simi if head to head)

Championship - Chatsworth beats Crespi in finals.

Lot of good teams this is really just guessing, especially at this time of year when most teams won't overuse their top pitchers. My guess is Chatsworth has the most pitching depth and will pull it off, although Chatsworth vs. TO could be quite a game if they meet.

Found them at the TO BB website. Not sure if they are current as I think there are 32 teams now.

Pretty much agree:

Bracket 2: Maybe DP over Cam
Bracket 4: St Bonnie
Bracket 6: Ventura
Bracket 7: Maybe Rio Mesa

Agree that it is so early who knows which teams will come out of the gate strong and which JV players effectively replace some departing Seniors.
BOF,
Look on the Crespi website for the latest. I don't think Ventura is in bracket 6 anymore. I heard last night that Camarillo has good hitting but doesn't have much pitching depth so who knows. That one probably depends a lot on how long they are willing to let their #1 starters go this time of the year.

BOF,
Last year Ventura lost to Agoura, the weakest team in the Marmonte league during this tournament. This year Simi and Moorpark should both be middle of the pack Marmonte league teams which means they should have very, very good records against teams outside the league. Good point on Saugus as they played for the VIBL championship.

A lot may depend on if Glendale is good enough to keep their Sat. morning game close vs Moorpark. Moorpark has 2 good pitchers who should be able to go 7 or 8 innings between them. After that there's a drop off, although the remaining pitchers aren't bad. If Glendale can stay close while the good pitcher is throwing they have a shot and the same goes for Ventura if they split the two of them up.

Generally agree with your analysis. I like Saugus and Oxnard this year. (Oxnard not in this tournament) You have a better idea on Moorpark and the Marmonte teams. Moorpark is generally weak compared to the rest and I think Simi lost more than they gained so I think they should be weaker also which makes this bracket a toss up.

Ventura's success/failure will be based on the outcome of 1 run games since they will be very good defensively, OK pitching, relatively weak (compared to elite teams) hitting. Since defensive teams take some time to develop they could be vulnerable early in the season. Their 90MPH closer is on the Varsity Bsk Ball team, which might make him questionable early also. Regardless any one coming out of this group will probably get knocked off at the next level.
Actuals so far:

Made it to top 8, all 2-0:

Bracket 1: Chatsworth
Bracket 2: Hart
Bracket 3: TO
Bracket 4: Cleveland
Bracket 5: Quartz Hill
Bracket 6: Alemany
Bracket 7: Rio Mesa
Bracket 8: Simi

Second 8:
Bracket 1: Chaminade(1-1)
Bracket 2: Dos Pueblos(1-1)
Bracket 3: West Ranch(1-1)
Bracket 4: Harvard-Westlake(1-1)
Bracket 5: Crespi(1-1)
Bracket 6: Saugus(1-1)
Bracket 7: Palmdale(1-1)
Bracket 8: Moorpark (2-0)

Predictions for 2nd round:
Chatsworth
TO
Quartz Hill
Simi

Dos Pueblos
West Ranch
Crespi
Palmdale (Would take Moorpark but they had to throw both starters on Saturday. Most of these are just guesses, because there's no way to tell how the coaches will use their pitchers this early in the year. I've already made one change in my guesses after seeing the scores.)

Since I have not seen any of these teams play my opinion is useless, but looking a the scores and for some fun I am going to go with:

1. Hart (underdogs rule)
2. TO
3. Alemany
4. Simi (they have not lost anything this year)
5. DP
6. Harvard-Westlake
7. Crespi (I still think Saugus could knock them off)
8. Moorpark
JB,
Don't forget you got the Valencia vs. Kennedy one right so far. Also Crespi won but it looks like they're having Moorpark play Chaminade so that Crespi and Chaminade get to play teams not in their league.

Interesting thing about this is that the parents seem to be worried about where the team finishes in the tournament while the coaches generally are just looking at getting the toughest games they can against different teams than they'll see during league.

I guess,... after 1 loss it's pretty much over as you're not going to play in the "real" championship at Birmingham.
I can see why Crespi and Chaminade don't want to play each other, but the game with Cleveland vs Chatsworth was under exactly same circumstances, except bracket....They had to play each other.
Rules should stand no matter what teams are playing, luck of the draw.....
BOF,
Yep, the Marmonte league is going to be tough. The Mission league is also going to be something with what looks like a couple tournament wins under their belt. They did pretty well against the Marmonte league in the pre-season.

Good ball up north of LA but there's some incredible talent down in OC too. Should make for some very interesting playoffs in a couple months.
Dear CADAD,
I just found this site and you sure do post a lot. Interesting how you say Simi has lost more than it gained? We are the defending CIF chanps. We still have 3 all CIF players returning (Meyer, Sandler and Keys) You list Moorpark in the same class as Simi? WOW We beat Hueneme 6 to 3 with them throwing their number one guy, we threw a sophomore. Second game we played Lancaster Eagles and we beat them 15 to 3 This was a game where we played every player on the team. I dont have a problem with you being a homer but to say things against the champs? If you are a Moorpark dad like it looks like we look forward to seeing you on March 25th, 2009
