does anyone have any information on the coaching staff. I know Coach Ranero and Smolensku previously coached at Rowan college in NJ and are in there first year @Eckerd. Does anyone have any information on the program or coaches?

The baseball program at Eckerd has traditionally been the weakest in the conference. The college is known for academics with an emphasis on Marine Biology and Law.
The campus is situated on the south end of Tampa Bay, which is wonderful if you like to fish.
I know nothing about the new coaching staff. A little info for you at least.
Thanks Floridafan, do you have any info on Barry either? Same conference and son is 2016 in contact with both. Thanks
Barry is Excellent! They recruited my son very hard. They actually offered him a full ride! He chose Tampa since it was much closer to us and they had more players go pro. Tampa offered 100% tuition which was offset by Florida Bright Futures Scholarship.
Barry won it all that year, lol!
Nice facilities and good staff unless it has changed.
Visited both during our travels with my youngest... Wasn't impressed with the recruiting style of the former Eckerd coach. Campus is beautiful and yes they certainly use their location in promoting their school. The baseball team didn't do too bad last year and seems to be off to a good start this year.... For 50K+ though, you are going their for something specific school wise unless you get a fully scholly.
Barry is also beautiful once you get on the campus - the drive through a few neighborhoods to get there wasn't great. We met with the pitching coach at Barry and he spent a solid hour talking to my son, showing him stuff from his video, etc. I was quite impressed. Barry certainly has their recruiting act together! Even though they weren't looking at my son, the coaches still responded to his queries and kept it touch. It was refreshing.
Check the rosters at your position... Do the bring in D1 dropdowns and JUCO transfers?
All the to tier DII Teams in Florida bring in JUCO and DI Talent in. That was the role my son had. I know there were many unhappy (or at least a few) parents in the stands, since my son was brought in as a JUCO Transfer and never missed an inning, while there were a fair number of players that had been recruited out of HS riding the pine or getting limited playing time.
As John F alludes you need to consider that!
Thanks Floridafan and JohnF I appreciate the feedback and will take it into consideration, and look into both programs more
