Last season our HS baseball coach was ejected from a game after a heated argument and received a one game suspension for being ejected. Is the same true for HS baseball players?

I see you are in SoCal, so ill answer this.
yes
In addition...at least in Northern California (Central Coast Section), a 2nd ejection costs the coach the rest of the season.
This has caused some umpires to slow down their trigger. Some have told me they don't wanna be a part of costing a coach a season.
Thank you for such quick answers!

I've never been "part of costing a coach a season." However, a few have made that decision for themselves. When they decide they want to leave a game, I don't stand in their way.
AZ has the ejection + 1 game suspension rule, same for players you get ejected, you sit the next game.
As far as I know, we don't have the "out for the season" on second occurance rule. It never came into play in my 4 years of watching HS games.
Jimmy03 - I think the 2nd ejection/end of season rule ended up being one with unintended consequences.
Well intentioned, but the reality/result is what I wrote above. Some umpire/friends have told me so.
I support your view of it. But not all feel the same.

In Virginia, yes. Not sure about other states. Oh and in VA, an ejection of player or coach results in a $150 fine the school has to pay to VHSL.
In Ohio, an ejection of a coach or player means they sit out the rest of that game, and then have to sit out TWO more. Can be AT those later games, but not in the dugout or assisting the team. We have to meet with our AD, who has to file a report with the State, and the school owes a $100 fine (which the coach needs to pay--at least at OUR school)....on second ejection in a season, you're done indefinitely and have to go to Columbus to meet with the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
In PA, an ejection cost the coach and the player another game out.....as to ejections, I am not known to be a "quick trigger"......my ejection totals tend to be low.....but if your behavior insists that you go, then you go.........no question and any additonal coaching penalty would never be considered in my decision.....
as a matter of fact, I would most likely not even have any idea of the coach's status prior to the game.....we arent informed of those things..... nor should we be.....
In some conferences, since it is the umpire who notifies coaches and players of their suspensions at the time they are earned, information regarding "priors" is sent to crew chiefs.
In SC, an ejection of a coach or player requires them to sit the next game, too. A coach is also fined, and the school cannot pay it.
