Son is in the 8th grade. High School coach has ask him to pitch a game for him. Will this affect his eligibility in high school?

Be very careful here. I just read up on it and eligibility standards say that as soon as a player participates in a practice or game they have "established eligibility." I would steer clear or at least make sure the coach calls the UIL before he attempts anything of this sort. This can cost the team (in the kids senior year) and the player as well.

Just my opinion.
