2013 is a freshman player at a DIII institution. We realize that the decision from the Eligibility Center does not affect him.

That said, all of his information was submitted last spring in a timely fashion, and his status says that everything has been received, yet no decision is available for DI or DII status. There is no question about his transcripts, grades, ACT score, or graduation, so why would they never have made a decision?

Just curious really - they got our money and we did everything we were supposed to . . .

I don't know for certain how the Eligibility Center works, but I imagine that they only make a ruling when a college requests it.  If no college requests a certification, then it isn't actually needed.  My guess is that they receive information (and fees) from many players who end up not playing any sport, as well as those who attend JCs, NAIA, D3, etc.  Presumably they would have to charge a significantly larger fee if every player was checked out.

Yes, if a student is planning to play in any NCAA sanctioned sport at a DI or DII college.

The NCAA Eligibility Center (formally known as the NCAA Clearinghouse) is an arm of the NCAA responsible for determining the eligibility of student athletes at the DI and DII levels. All NCAA student athletes must register with the Eligibility Center before they can receive an scholarship or play college sports for an NCAA school.
