We got a email from a couple coaches saying they are interested but wanted to see some video of him pitching and hitting...He is a 2015 LHP 6'3...I have never had him on a gun so I have no idea how hard he throws, he holds his own maybe low to mid 80's last year...anyway...I have some video of him during last season as a Sophomore and I have some from the fall when he played showcase...However this fall he never practiced as he was QB on the football team and would just show up and play usually just on Sunday...He didnt have a great season but did ok...I have several videos of him pitching, decent pitching and some good hard contact but outs when he was hitting...How do I handle this and How do I send the videos? Format? Youtube?

You tube uploads are perfect. I would get some current video hitting BP from the side maybe 10-15 strokes. Same with pitching, also if you can get it from behind the plate and behind the pitching mound.
Coaches are looking for skills not necessarily results. The season is coming up so get some in game pitching video when you get a chance. Don't worry you have time this summer is the big recruiting time for him.
Ok season, decent pitching-your accessment, just wondering he's a JR., does he have desire to play at next level? what has he been doing since football ended? Pitching at all? My son works with pitching coach over the winter and brings his HS catcher, so we video there if needed. They will want to see velocity on the tape. He's a Jr. And you have never seen his velocity on gun? Has he been to any PG events?
Where do u think the coaches saw him? Did he go to showcases/camps, I'm guessing not since he was busy as football QB. As a 2015 he should be getting a plan together if he wants a shot to play in college. Being a lefty can be a good thing, but he's a Jr. And needs to get himself seen this season. Is his HS coach giving any advice or think he has what it takes? Sorry for all the ? But Jr. Yr is very import. Many already have offers, and have verbally committed. You have to be proactive. Read the recruiting forum for extra help.

OK season was this fall...he played in several showcase's wasnt at his best but still did ok...He never practiced because of football...He also played showcase's over the summer and performed much better...I just never took much video...all we have is some video from my wifes Iphone...since football he has been starting on the basketball team...and throwing and hitting when he can...I told him I didnt want him to do much throwing after the fall season to give his arm some recovery...so he is just not getting back into the flow of it...He has been doing baseball specific weights all off season too...
As far as the video goes...I will just film some of his practices and maybe when he goes to see his private instructors I will film some...not sure how you show velocity on the video...do I need a gun to show how fast or what...He has been to a PG tourney 2 summers ago but not a showcase...I also dont know many JRs in our area who have signed anywhere...Its usually the seniors signing...so I am a bit confused I guess
My son got a few requests for video. His summer coach filmed a bullpen. Son edited it to show 4 pitches from the side, 4 from the back and 2 behind the catcher. The video is 1:37 long. The coach did not gun him so the video does not show velocity. Son uploaded it to youtube and emailed the link to the coaches that asked and he also sent it to several other coaches. He received several emails requesting schedule from coaches he had been in contact with and some from coaches he just contacted. Will see where it goes!
We shot a video in early October. Did hitting, pitching, infield, outfield and catching. My son isn't likely an everyday D1 outfielder or catcher...but would probably be capable for a couple innings if needbe so we were advised to show it. We sent it out to about 25 colleges on a Sunday night....and to our surprise had 8 or 9 replies by Monday morning....2 or 3 said "thanks...here's a camp brochure"....and 2 or 3 said "keep in touch"...and the last 3 or 4 made statements that let us know they had actually watched it...with 3 of them asking for schedules for the summer. He's attended a couple showcases in the past 2 months and within a couple days after, we've sent the video to any coaches who were at the showcase who we hadn't sent it to before. As recently as last Friday he got an email from a coach who we had sent the video to a couple weeks ago. He apologized for taking so long....said "we really like what we see, but we'd really like to see you play before going further....can you get us HS and summer schedules". We figured we had a half hour in shooting it....I had another hour or so in editing....and maybe an hour sending it out. 2.5 hours of our time....and not one dime spent for what is turning out to be quite a bit of reponse. At this point, it's probably the best time/effort we have spent in the recruiting process.
Veteran D1 HC on the east coast gave the following advice - keep it short (2min), multiple angles and show athleticism. Direct quote - we never recruited anybody from a video but we have excluded many. If we like something we will follow up.

Good advice on the length of the video. Keep it short, and edit out the downtime. No coach is going to watch a game in real time! 2-3 minutes max. Also, Buckeye, if you upload the video using YouTube, you can use the "Analytics" function to give you information on how many views the video had by date and geography. You'll know real quick who watched your video and for how long. Good luck!
2-3 minutes sounds about right to get their attention. My 2016 sent a short video out to a few high academic schools that he is interested in even though there really is nothing they can do this early (so we thought). started the video with a quick screen capture of his latest HS transcript and copy of next years classes, then got into about 10 continuous swings in cage, couple of fielding drills which showed some diving, then a couple of pitches from behind. Mentioned in the email about going to Headfirst and Stanford camps this summer and what he was planning on studying in the future.
