I would thnk that that would be a very good thing to do!

For what it's worth, sites like Getmynameout.com, and berecruited.com offer a tool to do just that, so from their perspective they feel it is a beneficial service to offer.

I would not hesitate to draft a short concise email to programs you are interested in, letting them know of your interest in them and the fact that you will be in attendence.
Two questions - how old is your son and can he play?

If he's a Junior / Senior and he can play then I say send an email, send a link / video and a short introduction to who he is. Don't make one email and mass send it to all of them. Personalize it and then follow it up when you show up to the showcase. Walk up, shake hands and introduce himself to the coaches. Talk about the email and then leave them alone. If you can play then they will remember you.

If he's a Freshman / Sophomore then I wouldn't becasue they can't really do anything with him.
