Coaches,

We've got a beautiful new gym w hard wood basketball floor. We can throw hard balls in the gym, but we can't hit ground balls using a regular leather cover baseball.

Any suggestions for a ball that will not scuff/leave marks on the hard wood flooring, that also plays like a regular baseball?

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

When I was in Kentucky our gym was really nice and we were limited as to what we could throw while inside. I never found anything that was remotely similar to a real baseball. So what we did was anything where the ball was going to be on the floor we used the Incrediballs (the soft / cloth type ball) and if we were going to do any type of throwing drills we would use dimpled pitching machine balls. If they hit the floor it wouldn't really hurt the floor but if you took groundballs with them the wear might add up.
Same with us on the Incrediballs.
Hand-rolling hard balls doesn't hurt the gym, just hitting them. Just kneel down and roll them by hand instead of hitting them down to the floor.
A couple years ago we used balls that were neon green and harder then an Incrediball but softer than a hard ball. Same weight as a hard ball too. They were perfect! I've been looking for them since to buy but can't find them anywhere. If anyone knows who makes them, please pass it along. With a link too if possible.
Check out the Reaction pro. Its good to use if space is limited. We have good weather out here year round and we use it at home in our cage.

I use baseballs, softballs, tennis balls and the jugs sting free dimple balls on it. Also it realy only works well on a hard surface. I've tried it on a dirt infield and it didnt seem to work that well.
