Evaluations During an Unofficial Visit

Is it allowable to evaluate (by members of the coaching staff) a student athlete by having him hit and pitch during an unofficial visit to an NCAA Division II school?

Our family visited with a D2 coach a couple of weeks ago and he said he is allowed one tryout per prospective player. I got the impression that he holds a one-day tryout which all prospects attend, but perhaps he would be able to do a one-on-one.

The answer is "YES". But only in D-II. I'm sure that some of the other posters here will be more than happy to elaborate!
