I've looked at this a couple times and my first reaction was, yeah, save the money and do it yourself using this site as a road map. And while that could very well work, I find it helpful to have a high school sports focused website to serve as a capture point for statistics, pictures, and video. I can then use that to provide a coach with a link to review and see if they want to come out and see my guy play.
I could do that with a home grown web site and even a YouTube account, but the home grown site has hidden costs and maintenance. The YouTube account is a good tool to have if you don't have an alternative parking site.
The other advantage I find with the online site (We're using berecruited.com but others could do the same) is the database they have for alerting a large number of coaches to an interest in their schools. Again, not a substitution for a fine tuned list where direct personal contact needs to take place, but a way to try and kindle interest from those you might not have otherwise had the time or the early interest. Sometimes one of these could show return interest and could then appear on the finetuned list after a visit.
So in my case, the $60 spent for unlimited access has been well worth it from an organizational and central touch point point of view. Absolutely not a requirement to achieve the goal of the right school with the right baseball team, but one that works for us.
