Swingtown is divided by geographical location and high school, so you have a good chance of playing on the same team as your high school teamates and other kids in your general area you might have played ball with. You can also request to be placed on a certain roster if you have a certain group of kids you would like to play with. Overall it's a very solid league with a wide range of talent. It varies year to year but you'll find your D1 prospects mixed in with kids who are playing for fun and might not even play high school ball. To follow up on TARatko it really is a league where anyone can feel comfortable no matter skill level. It's a fun time just being with friends and you do get to travel around the greater Chicagoland area. However, If you're expecting coaching, you will not get it here. Our coach emphasized that we would not be receiving any instruction from day one. Batting orders go by jersey number (Forwards one game and then reverse the next) and you are on your own as far as pitch calling, defensive play, and offensive signs. If you're playing this league to try and "showcase" yourself, again, this league is not the place. They do offer a scouting combine and a trip to Arizona for a winter camp but I haven't heard of anything coming out of these. In closing, I had fun. If you have the money, I would say it is worth it.
