Welcome aboard!

Sometimes a dad (jv) or assistant coach will head this up, but it will change year to year. I would email the head coach (check the school's website but usually firstname_lastname@ccpsnet.net) and they will either get back with you or forward the information to who is heading it up. James River has had an active fall woodbat team in recent years, not sure about Midlo.

In years past it was for all high school age players. There are some rules that involve having to have a few guys on the team from another school in order to skirt some VHSL restriction. Same reason why varsity coaches don't run it.

Unfortunately it has tended to be very low quality play and as a result, the organization of it has struggled year to year. Between the guys playing football and the guys playing travel, it's sometimes hard to find 9 to play week to week.

No idea what's going on this year or even if it is still going on. My two cents is, if you miss it, you didn't miss much.
The baseball bash fall league will play this year.It is a wood bat league for high school age players.Last year the league had 42 teams.Mr midlo dad not all players can play travel ball because of several reasons. The league was created as a developmental league to allow the high school coach an opportunity to evaluate his high school players. Each year the league has grown. The area high school coaches have been very positive in their response to the benefits of the league. The league was established 23 years ago by 2 very successful HS coaches. The reason was to increase the amount of games since the vhsl limits play to 20 games during the spring.Mr midlo dad the league does not profess to be as competitive as travel ball but your account in the above post is not a fair description of the league.Poll area high school coaches and you will find out that they will attest that the league is a good value to the players and to them.
Keewartson played travelball rather than fall woodbat, but I remember as a rising 8th grader he was chomping at the bit to get in front of the HS coaches (I understood that the head coach showed up maybe twice to watch?). But, I think Midlo Dad and coach p are both correct. The league does serve a purpose for those that don't play travelball in the fall. In our county, some HS coaches stongly suggest (require) their players to play in the league.

Keewartson said tonight that there was only a JV team last year at JR, which would include 8th graders. Looking at the USSSA website, there were 40 JV and V baseball teams in 2010, and 27 teams last year. There may be more (?) but some teams listed last fall didn't play. Each year is different though, so contact the HS coach.
