Runner on 1st base.
Deep fly ball caught by outfielder in field of play up against the fence who then falls over mesh type fence. How many bases, if any, does the runner on 1st get?

Also, would someone clarify the catch and carry rule. Player catches a ball in play who then runs out of play. How many bases do baserunners get?

Well, my son was involved in a "catch and carry" play where he caught a pop-up just to the left of third base and his effort carried him into a small out-of-play area where the coaches sat in two chairs - the other team was awarded a base for each runner. Since this scored a run for the other team I researched it right here on the good old hsbbw and discovered the rule is if the ball is caught in fair territory but motion carries BOTH feet into out-of-play territory, each base runner gets a base. If only ONE foot goes out-of-play, they don't. Federation Rules.
