You are welcome, some of the school’s web site have where their alumni go to, people keep on saying that the JC route is the best way to get into a 4 year school, but when you check where their guys go, they are not necessary the highest desirable schools.
Obviously there are exceptions when you just have a top line player that everyone wants, but often times it is based on connections as to where the JC transfers go and what scouts hang out watching the games.
feather river is quite aways from my sons JC. They are not even in our conference, I have heard they have had good programs in the past. anyway my sons conference is the BIG8.
If you not going to your local JC in CA, you might consider a So Cal JC. I think the scouting coverage is better and there are a lot more D1/D2/D3 schools nearby then most JCs in Norcal.
One of the players from feather river just signed with university of oklahoma (sooners). pretty nice school. Seems like a lot of the JC guys might have to leave Cali.Anyway the player is a middle infielder, my son played with him when they were 14 and u on a travel team.So shows you the schools are looking at the JC players.
Feather River College is a well respected and successful jr. college program located in Quincy, which is about an hour north of Truckee. I believe their conference is the Golden Valley Conference, and includes Lassen, Butte, Shasta, Siskiyou and Feather River. FRC is the class of the conference, though Butte is also a good program that is well run (don't know much about the others). Under the previous coaches who are now at Delta JC, FRC went something like 25-1 in league in 2007. I do know that one of the coaches who left FRC to go to Delta, Josh Taylor, has moved back to Quincy and he's a good guy that I believe is involved with the program up there again.
I would echo what has been said about the program. Very solid. The area around Quincy is just beautiful. If your son is the outdoorsy type, he will love it. All the real seasons! Quincy is kind of a cool little town. I've been camping and backpacking in that area for nearly 40 years..have lots of good memories.
