I can SO relate to this!! I even find myself feeling bad for opposing pitchers and their moms if he's struggling-I made that comment once and everybody looked at me like I was crazy and someone said "That's just because you're a pitcher's mom-I sure don't feel bad for him!"

I have to admit I'm finally (just this fall) not feeling as stressed as in the past and it's nice to feel ok when he's off and I know he's going to be ok with it. It makes a world of difference knowing he and his teammates have confidence in him even if he's not at his best!Of course, he's a senior and is finally playing kids his age and younger rather than older and I know next year when he's the "youngster" again it'll be a different story!
Now when h.s. season starts, I know I'll be back to a bundle of nerves, but for now it's been nice.

Shortstopmom, my son will be heading up your way next year-I'm not sure how close you are to Manhattan-but it'll be closer than Houston FrownIf you and your son(or any other Kansas moms) go to visit you'll have to look him up. He thinks it's funny that mom has "internet friends" - he's already met a couple of hsbbw moms and still teases about how it's dangerous to meet people on the web!
ORmom,...your son will be in Manhattan, as in close by K-State? Thats only about and hour and a half from meeeee!! Smile I feel that " baseball mom of all baseball players " feeling coming on!
My son doesnt even pitch but my stomach gets in knots for the boys who are! Call me quirky!!

What will your son be doing in Manhattan? Baseball? School? Vacation?

We go every so often up to Manhattan as lots of my son's friends go to K-State!!
Tell your son he has a sub-mom standing in, only an hour and a half away. Wink
PM me and I'll give you MY info for him to have just in case of an emergency, if ya want to!
Once a baseball mom,..always a baseball mom, doesnt matter if they belong to you biologically or not! Big Grin

As far as kids not getting focused on college: I volunteer in our high school's College Center (college advising center), and I remember one of the advisors years ago saying, "Around October of their senior year, the boys finally realize that they're not going to be coming back here next year" (and begin to think about applying to college)....Tiger Paw Mom said it better, and I think if you just do your researching, watch deadlines, do what you can about tournaments and showcases for next summer--it'll be okay.

And another Mom with PMS--I have a really hard time having any conversation with anyone while he's pitchng--just want to focus and send positive vibes. So as often as not I do retreat to solitude.....
