For years we've been blessed with an older gentleman that would maintain our field. He's retired and instead of playing golf, or what-not, he loved coming to the field every day and work on it. Of course we let him while the coaches still chipped in on post game/practice drags and game prep.
He's now getting up there in age a little bit and can't get around like he used to. To that end, we're going to install a system where it's the players' responsibility to recover and maintain the field, as it should be. We're going to let the older gentleman over see the process - he's more than earned it.
My question for you is, what systems/responsibility assignments do you guys incorporate with your players and how do you organize it? I've seen several schools where everyone has a job and they get after it. It's very impressive.
The list of things we're planning to do looks something like:
Drag the field, broom the grass/lip perimeter of the inf/of, rake the perimeter of the dirt, sweep/clean the dugouts, mound and home circle, water the inf, drag, maintain the outside of the field.
We'd like to keep it within 10-15 mins so we can do it after every game and or practice with out fail. Thanks for your help!
