It looks like my nephew (a 2008) is finally set to make a decision regarding his college of choice. Currently, he has some very good offers on the table from several institutions, mostly D1 jucos who have offered pretty much full rides. However, he has also garnered interest from a D1 four-year, but as of yet they have only been able to offer minimal baseball money plus a little academic money. I believe this school maybe my nephew first choice, but financially it may not be viable for his family.

I know this area has been touched on before within this forum, but I was wondering if any other "forum regulars" can advise regarding other options for financial aid for a Canadian traveling south. I know OSAP is an option, but what else can or should we look into?

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

One option to look at is sending letters out to organizations like the Lions Club and Legions etc, they usually have some money that is up for grabs, be it a essay contest or even just a simple letter stating your case for some help, ususally you will get something.

Mind you chances are it won't be much, (I myself recevied what I considered to be a fair amount from an organization) but every little bit helps right????
Keep in mind that BB money is only for 1 year and academic money deends on a minimum GPA which is usually around 2.0.
Osap depends on parents income so it is not always available and it is less for students leaving the provice.
Some of the conferences give foreign students who do well some money at the end of the year. I believe my son got an adittional $1300 but not sure why.
