Sorry, just kidding! We have freezing rain today in Columbia. I hate this weather!!

Season tickets go on sale here in the next couple of weeks and the first South Carolina vs Clemson game in Columbia will be on March 13th. I can't wait!

HaHa. Actually I have been researching USC jokes. I had a first the other day, read the boards on the The State, lot of hate going on there. Worse than Gators vs Seminoles!
My son got to see his first snow, went out to get a camara to take pictures for me (ughh I have seen it before). What a first!
Missing the games between the two teams, can't do it this year, but I will see USC play in Jacksonville for the playoffs.
I will expect a play by play and it is ok to sit in the CU section! Wear your orange that day!

I can only imagine the snow experience. My kids have never seen a 60 degree January day . They wear a smile and have shorts on if it hits 40.

I think you should push for some of the other college "firsts".

Well, I guess our move to the sunny Southwest has really paid off! After spending January in the not-so-sunny Pacific Northwest, we went to our first "real" (not fall ball) tournament in Yuma this weekend. Son's team faced a couple of California juco teams and Young Harris from Georgia. My son's team played with wood bats; all the other teams used metal. Since Arizona jucos use wood during the season, I guess the coach didn't want to switch just for the tournament. Anyway, son's team lost to Young Harris 6-4, which we are regarding as a moral victory due to the wood bats and Y-H's talent. Woohoo! it's baseball season at last!

Our high school seasons are probably similar, March 1st tryouts, April 1st games start, ah-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h......there's nothing like watching the young men play in 30 and 40 degree weather.

Waiting for those Omahas and Stealths to come flying apart...listening to that painful "S*N*A*P" as they catch the ball during warm-ups and the game...seeing them try to run or catch a ball while their hood from their sweat shirt flaps in the wind. And, let us not forget those "true" hops you get while trying to field a grounder off the frozen tundra....o-h-h-h-h-h-h and what about sliding into a base on that tundra/rocks!!!!!!!!

I know that even with our weather, our kids have been working-out in the off-season to stay sharp and improve. None of us can wait until the season starts either.

Having said that, don't forget to stop and get one of those great hotdogs or polishes from that hotdog stand just-off the Dan Ryan Expressway a few blocks away.

Let me know when your going to be there, I live about twenty minutes away. Then we can watch "real" baseball...40 degree, triple layered, ear muff, heavy mittens baseball.....while the kids play in Underarmour, sweatshirts and NO MITTENS. Bur-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r!!!!
