Today we have our first meeting with a D1 coach at our home. Not sure what to expect or what kind of questions to ask. He seems very interested in our son, has called every week since July 1 and wants to make sure we don't jump into committing to anyone right away. He is from a smaller D1 school with not that great of a record in the past.

Let us know how the mtg went.

Soon after the meeting while it's fresh in your mind re-vist the discussions and write down a couple follow-up questions you did not ask. Then is the time to have your son call the coach back with those questions. Follow-up questions not only address new issues but will also send a message to the coach that your son has a proactive appproach to situations, and also shows a sincere interest.

Both official school vists and home visits are a "selling" game in the coaches eyes. He is attempting to sell his program. My thought is that the player is also selling himself. In the business world initial impressions are critical, but, followup communication sells product, and makes lasting impressions.
