My son received his first offer from a D-2 that is a good fit for academics and athletics. He is a junior RHP, finaly hit 90,and now things are really starting to happen with interest from some really great D-1 programs as well. We cant wait until Spring and then Summer games as he is now truly on the "radar". I just wanted to take a brief moment to thank this site which has been invaluable to me and my boy throughout a very confusing, challenging and intimidating time. Special thanks to YoungGunDad,BOF, MidloDad,TPM,TRHit,ClevelandDad and Observer44; all of which have taken the time to answer questions with thoughfulness and truth. With all of the misleading information out there this has truly been a godsend. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Congrats to your son and your family. There's almost no better feeling in the world than to be recruited to a school that wants your son. The next best thing will be the 1st time you see him in his college uniform!

Once again the knowledgeable posters on here come through. This site is an incredible wealth of information from experienced parents and coaches. We are all very fortunate the Julie hosts this site.

As others have said, please keep us posted as he progresses. It's great to see hard work and dedication pay off.

Any exciting news on the homefront with your son in regards to baseball?

I've been lurking, YGdad. Yes, some news, but not official yet. DS decided to forgo several options to play D1/D2 in favor of two D3's we visited. His decision came down to wanting to take advantage of the best academic fit and opportunities to pursue medical research/medical school while also playing ball. It just appeared to be too difficult to do both outside of the D3 arena.

Two very good D3 programs have "actively recruited" him, and they ended up being his top two academic choices. He has been accepted to both, but we are waiting to find out about academic schollys before he decides. So no official news until he makes his choice. We will be pleased with either one. Both are 5-6 hours from home in different states, but play some games in our area, so we'll get to see him-- assuming (of course) that he makes the varsity squad.

Feeling very at peace about the whole thing, and appreciative of all the great info gleaned on this forum over the last 3.5 years. It has made the process very clearly defined and organized for us. I'd do a few things differently, but I don't think the outcome would be changed if I did.

First congrats to both players mentioned for finding a good fit. Quill girl I used your quote, becasue it is a great example of finding the best fit and not just the division of baseball.Your son made a very mature decision, and I wish him the best on and off the field.
Quill & YGD,

As a fellow Georgian with a 2010 senior in the same boat, I wanted to say I share your feelings towards this website and its regular contributors.

Our son has been recruited in earnest by several D3's and he is a pre-med student with very similar concerns. Emory & Mercer would be great [especially for his mom!] but they seem to be able to attract kids who might be genuine D1 prospects and he has never seen his self as one...I think schoolwork and football abilities kept him from focusing only on baseball which probably isn't a terrible thing altogether!
With good graces, he hopes to get two acceptance letters this week from 2 prestigious D3's that he is in love with and we can celebrate with you. In both cases, we have met baseball staffs we trust and he is ready for college! My goal is to get past it so we can enjoy his senior baseball season a little more than last year.
At the end of the day, this site has offered me alot of support through I process I knew nothing about 18 months ago...thanks to everyone here for the help~!
BigBoy, you are most welcome!

I've never had the pleasure of meeting you on here before. Welcome to HSBBW. I'm glad that this site has been beneficial to you as well. It certainly helped me a few years back.

Sounds to me that you and Quillgirl have a couple of bright young sons with very mature outlooks about their future.

I wish you the very best. And please come back and let us know how things work out for your son!

Merry Christmas!

Have said this before...one of the great values of college ball is that the environment and culture can offer a player a chance to excell at spectacular levels in the classroom. Congrats!
