My 08 son will be attending 3 perfect game events this summer. 2 BCS South Regional Tournaments in Austin, Tx., in June and a WWBA Tournament in Marietta, Ga., in July. What should he expect to happen at these events as far as the format of the tournaments, etc.? He hasn't done a showcase type of thing before and I'm just wondering what the experience will be like for him from any of you old PG pros out there. Thank you in advance.

I may be wrong, but -- just not sure if these PG tournaments actually have a true 'showcase' component, which is where each player is evaluated in a very controlled environment (run the 60, take some grounders to check arm speed and footwork and so on, take BP cuts, etc -- followed by a couple of games). PG does both tournaments and showcases - they are different animals.

There will surely be people there to evaluate the players, but it may not be in a 'showcase' format at all -- just the tourney games themselves. Anyone else know for sure?

PG definitely "keeps an eye" on players, especially ones that stand out, at the BCS and WWBA events. But Krakatoa is right on. They are not true "showcase" events. There are just too many players in the tourneys for them to make/publish individual reports and ratings for the participants.

If you want a "report/rating" you will need to attend an actual PG showcase.

GOOD LUCK!
The tournements are just that tournements. PG will report on the tourneys and the players that stand out above the rest. By the way they do a great job with the tournements. In order to get a personal evaluation by PG staff you need to attend a showcase event. I would strongly encourage you to do so. You will have a blast at the PG tourneys great teams and players from all around will be there. Its fun to watch all the games and players thats for sure. Good luck this season.
