Stay safe out there this week!

TY. We are on the east coast so storm surge isn't an issue. I have friends on west coast of Florida who have been  forced to evacuate this morning. Plus debris is still everywhere in those area from last week. I live in a grid zone that supports 2 fire stations and most power lines in my city are underground. We have never lost power for a long period of time.

Son was in Ft Myers this weekend and basically it was miserable weather and a tough ride back to Gainesville on 75. I just heard St Pete turning off water supply. Other cities to follow.

It is scary and Floridians, especially those on the other coast, have had enough.

Stay safe!

Storm track heading right at my house so that's fun. I am not near water so wind is our primary concern.

On a baseball note the big Perfect Game "Jupiter" event was supposed to start Thursday.  Was going to be my 2025's last travel tournament.

PG has pushed it back to Friday start as of yesterday and asked teams to notify them if they are dropping out by this morning.

Our first three games we're supposed to be from teams hailing from Illinois, Massachusetts, and Texas.

No idea how people coming from a long way can make an informed decision, or what kind of refunds they could get on their travel arrangements.

Going to be an interesting week, and good luck to my fellow Floridians.

Using history as a guide, I wouldn't expect that PG tourney to run.... Much more pressing issues will occur in that area.  IIRC, think what happened in FtMyers a couple years ago - this'll be worse it seems.

St Leo is a bit further north and east of Tampa... I would think Eckerd, UTampa, USF, etc. to be hit hard.  I heard they were telling Rollins (north of Orlando) kids to go home... Gonna be scary.

We left last weekend (east coast near Daytona) on a pre-planned trip to Charlotte before that thing blossomed into a hurricane...  Our son took care of the few things we had outside - now it's just a matter of waiting and seeing how much of the forecast is right... followed by every news/weather team bragging how right they were...

If the hurricane hits Tampa Bay or slightly north, UT will be under 10 feet of water or more. It’s right on the “river” there. If the storm stays south it will actually suck water out of the bay, which is very weird to watch.

The east coast has had a wave sitting on top of it for 3 days now and we are saturated and already some flooding and road closures. Lots of trees are going to topple over due to the already wet root systems.

Mini update:

Perfect Game did announce early yesterday that "Jupiter" is postponed until next week.  So I do give them credit for trying to get out in front of this.

And as @TerribleBPthrower stated downtown Tampa and UT are sitting ducks if the storm goes north of them.

Last track I saw had eye hitting Southeast of the bay which is bad for me, but I would rather deal with wind damage if it keeps the city and millions from going underwater.

First, Florida is in our thoughts and prayers.

On a baseball note, we were in Fort Myers over the weekend for the WWBA - constant, unrelenting downpours.  I think many teams got in less than 3 full games.  Son enjoyed the little bit of baseball, but that was a very, very long trip for the amount of baseball he was allowed to play due to the weather.  The field switches and the cancellations were rather insane - before the rest of the tournament was ultimately cancelled.  To anyone going to Jupiter - hopefully, it's safer on the other coast, but hurricane season seems to have started early and the tournaments will try very, very hard not to cancel - so you may instead get constant reschedules, random (outlying) field switches followed by just before the game cancellations, odd time reassignments followed by more cancellations, games in driving rain and "full" games called after less than 3 innings (close games, not because of mercy rules, but weather apparently made it a "full" game).

Hoping everyone in Florida stays safe.

We are on the east coast and my town got blasted. Tornado warnings every few minutes. Tons of serious damage. My house/neighborhood was spared, but just a half mile away there are some people whose houses and businesses were destroyed. If this is what we are getting nowhere near the eye of the storm i can only imagine what the folks on the west coast are getting.
