Florida Tech

Ok first things first. Florida tech as a school is ok, its a techinical school so if your son wants an engineering degree great, if not his degree wont be worth the paper its printed on. A business degree from FL. Tech is a waste of time. Although the Engineering degree opens doors. Now as for the coaching staff; Head coach Paul Knight is a very qualified highschool JV baseball assistant coach. He was a pitcher in college for a small school in SC, put he can not convey ideas to his staff, leaving them to basically coach themselves. Last year the teams sole all region selection was a pitcher who since day one refused to speak to the new coaching staff once they took the reigns. Assistant coach Greg Berkmeir never played college baseball, however he does post a rather impressive wiffle ball carreer resume. Yes thats right the assistant coach's largest source of hands on knowldge comes from wiffle ball tournaments. Before Paul Knight came to Fl. Tech baseball team was lead by Les Hall, a soon to be College Hall of Famer, and has already been entered into the Sunshine State Conference hall of fame. Basically if your son wants to learn about the game and improve, he is better off trying other avenues.

I apologize for any "anger" you saw in the previous post. But I think you read into it a little to far. Lets just say I have first hand knowledge on the workings of the florida tech baseball team. And everything I said in the last posting is true, however I apologize for the anger in the posting . Picking a college is crucial for an athlete, and I can assure you nothing good will come from a baseball career at florida tech. I suggest finding a school where the coaches develop their players, and improve their players. At florida tech lineups are made based on like and dislike of the players. Players with good relationships with the coaches can simply asked to be played, and their requests are granted. Your sons goal as a player is to be respected, and receive playing time out of respect, not if the coach likes him or not. When players see playing time being handed out not because of ability but rather because of personnal relationships, hard feelings develop, internal arguements arise, and the team divides itself. Hopefully your son is being recruited by other schools, which can offer him a better sports environment. Or if he wants to learn from a Wifflepoluzza allstar, head to florida tech.
