Thanks to all who contribute to this invaluable site. This whole process is overwhelming..at best. I wish i would have found this site a few years ago, but as it's never too late (so they say)...i would like to get your opinion and/or advice.

Quick overview:
3 year Varisty Senior on a 2 time 5A State Championship Team (in AZ)
6'2" - 185 RHP / OF - Fast Feet / Fast Bat - ( impressive stats )
Pitching throws mid 80's / OF got a gun and accurate to boot
GPA - 4.31 / SAT - 1369 Ranks in top 3% of Class
Area Code Team Tryouts - Did well ( 1 of 5 to hit HR during BP, one of fastest times in running)
Currently playing on Pro Scout Team (and HS fall league)
Recruiting interest ( letters & calls ) from Stanford, Cal-Berkeley, USD, Arizona, etc.

Question(s) - Because of death in family and other issues, we have never done any showcases.
He will be playing in a few Pro-Scout Tournaments and International Wood Bat w/ Pro Scout team.

At this point.... is Showcasing still important or necessary?

Are there any other "things" that we SHOULD be doing to help his chances?

He is one of those kids that his education is the most important factor. So he is really
wanting to concentrate his efforts towards the more prestigious or selective schools.
Does that change where he should focus his exposure?

I know this is long winded...and i apologize for that...but thank you in advance for all of your help and advice.

IMO...Showcases are for exposure and it would appear as if your son is already seriously on some very imprerssive radar screens.

As it is close I would suggest the Senior wood bat. It's held in Peoria. Historically it draws tons of recruiters and is late so all are hungry. IMO it is one of the most important events of the year on the west coast.

Would also a suggest a run at the Ivy's. Obviously a lot of factors cost, distance,...but well qualified and if education is priority #1 they fit. Particularly with those acadecmic skills, large academic scholarship would not be out of the question.
He actually IS playing in the Sr Wood in Peoria (w/pro scout team).

Should i send the schools he's interested in (and who've shown interest) that schedule?

Also, as to the Ivies...we kind of knew that about the academic scholarships...but he is also up for several Athletic Scholar Scholarships that are portable. Those should still be ok to use there...correct?

And based on the cost of the ivies...NEED is something that i'm sure we would have no problem qualifying for...

thanks both of you...i'm already feeling a lot better!!
