Albemarle falls to NC, 11-10.  Listened to the game via the web.  Albemarle struck early scoring 2 in the 1st, with NC scoring 3 in the bottom of the frame.  NC added one more in the 3rd.  Albemarle went 1-2-3 in the 2nd and 3rd while leaving 5 base runners stranded in the 4th and 5th.  In the 6th Post 74 (Albemarle) plated 6 runs to take a 8-4 lead - 2 runs scored on a wild pitch.  NC responded with 3 runs.  Albemarle added 2 more runs in the next two innings while NC scored 2.  Score 10-9 going into the bottom of the 9th.  NC ties the game with one out, and with runners on the corners places a well placed bunt to score the winning run.  Great back and forth game.

Congrats to both teams.  This is the farthest any team from VA has made it in American Legion playoffs.

Congrats to Post 74 on a great season including their run in the playoffs.

I'm not sure of the timeframe FoxDad's comment was referring to but Midlothian Post 186 were champions of the American Legion WS in 1985.

My apologies, That's what I heard during the webcast last night - should have verified the information before posting.  They may have been referring to how far Post 74 or any team from District 13 had gone in post season play.  The play-by-play and color commentator were not the most accurate announcers I've listened to, but they did okay.

At any rate it was certainly an entertaining game to listen to.  I thought Post 74 could hang on at the end, but it was a strange game with lots of errors, only a few deep balls (no HR's).  Except for the 2nd/3rd innings Albemarle had men on base every inning.  Haven't checked the box score, but at one point they had left 10 runners on base.
