Mine is playing (Sr. year) for the first time since the 8th grade. He's done pretty good so far being there was a lot of catching up to do on his part. He had a pick and 3 knock downs Sat against South Lake so I was proud.
Well, I do remember last season at Grapevine when Dan Evatt (now a frosh baseballer at Baylor) played football for the first time in a while at GHS (his sr. year) and made 1st Team All-District as a DE.
The athletes are the athletes no matter what sports they play. Good luck to 11.
Thanks for this post, 11sdad. #1 son starts his college football season (he's a Jr.) Thursday night at 6pm. on ESPN2, Tulsa at ULM. #2 son plays Sat. at Texas Stadium in the Tom Landry Classic, Garland vs. Allen. At this stage in my life, if they can walk off the field at the end with all limbs attached, no broken bones, and no bells ringing in their heads, then I'm a happy camper!!
my son is playing his senior year as a starting wing back. has always played both sports, but baseball is his thing. i just pray for no injuries. scares me to the hilt!
We did a lot of praying during senior year football. Every time he went down, I stood up and kept my fingers crossed. Made it through football but he nearly wrecked his ankle in basketball.
Here is a link to 11sdad's boy disrupting the offense of the evil empire in a scrimmage last weekend. Go to the fourth story down titled "Martin football newcomer shines".
