If he plays football, he'd better go to those workouts or he will be behind when fall workouts start. They will definitely help him in regards to baseball. There are some lifts that football coaches do that are not good for throwers (even their QB's). As long as he is stretching before and after he lifts and is not losing flexibility, he should be fine. Here is where the issues come...pitching in a summer baseball game that night and lifting that morning. Its tough, but if you want to play two sports, then you have to give 100% to both. Most kids don't get this...neither do most coaches!

Mine will be a senior next year and was the starting qb. It has been tough. Even off season, football takes priority over varsity baseball and he was a starter. Since the football period is seventh period this district has a stupid rule that states that a football player must complete his offseason football period before they can go to baseball(s****r,track, etc.) practice. He was a starter in outfield and third starter in rotation.

Last summer going into his junior year he didn't play baseball in the summer so he could do all that was "expected" and "required". His FB coach said " Show me another 5a qb that is playing baseball in the summer". He threw 108 passes all season and the team went 1-9. Wasn't worth it to him because he "loves" baseball and he "likes" football.

We had multiple injuries his Freshman year as the only games he was healthy for the first and last games of the football season. That summer he lifted and over threw football and baseball that led to a tear of the bicep tendon and had him out of commission from both sports for most of the summer.

Lesson was learned that these football coaches do not have your son's best intrests in mind and know little about weight training to fit both sports. Tell your son that he needs to listen to his body and if he begins to feel pains and twinges that he needs to pay attention and if it hurts stop what he is doing right then.

Now going into his senior year he is confident about his FB skills and says now his best shot for the next level is baseball. He plans to give Baseball his summer commitment and fit football in as he can.

Not arrogant but just going to do football at his terms this year. He did it on their terms last year and was not successful.

Good to see Brewhaha Jr. doing things the way he wants to, regardless of post high school opportunities. Chalk one up for BASEBALL.
