I got to see Fidrych live in person from box seats right behind the 3rd Base dugout that year in Baltimore. I will always be thankful to my Dad for taking me to that game.

Remember it well...in those days Monday Night Baseball was much watch TV for me and my friends.

Fidrych grew up in the small town next to me, and he was well known in the area. Everybody was talking about him in high school and how he was doing in MLB. What I loved about him is that he was an everyday guy who was just a little odd when he had a baseball in his hand.

Unfortunately, he passed way too young in his hometown. Tragic.
