In yesterday's Pool B semi-final (there ARE semi's in pool play!), OU trailed by one with runners at 1st and 3rd with 1 out in the 8th and 9th innings, only to ground into twin kills in each opportunity to tie. Nice win for the good guys, who are making a final push to host a regional tournament. Ironically, the winning run was the result of the Sooner SS tripping over the 2nd base bag while fielding a simple infield popup with 2 down in the 6th. Wow. It was funny for everyone not wearing crimson, especially for those from Stillwater.
Baylor drives south disappointed, having won 2 games.....losing a tie-breaker based on pool seed. The Bears played good baseball, trying to extend their season this week. Was it enough?
Local favorite, Brandon Loy, has had an All-tournament type week (team has not been selected at press time).....with two key hits yesterday and a 4-hit game on Wednesday. Way to go B! Joey Hainsfurther (BU) and Cam Rupp and Cole Green (UT) have also had nice tourneys as well...CG may be on the hill for today's big game. TTU's Ben Flora has also made an appearance. Last night's final game in Pool B had to overcome a pre-game dose of Oklahoma weather.....very strange storms up here. Thankfully, they are playing in a pro-ball park and the field drains quickly.
Ok, it's not High School baseball.....but it's the next best thing.
