When my son was in HS we faced a skinny, scrawy, slower velo guy who we beat everytime.

By the time this player reached end of his junior year, he had made a 360 degree turn around. Mid 90's velo, he had every scout knocking on his door, he hadn't done well in school, so he presented himself better as pro material than college. Many scouts questioned his mental makeup, so he fell to the 14th round, drafted by the Padres in 2006 and became a draft and follow (which they don't do anymore).

Attended Broward Community College for one season, grew up a bit, he signed in 2007 before the next year's draft for over a million dollars.
He obviously has continued to put it all together and today that player at 21 was called up to pitch in the ML. For me I find it all facinating as I watched this player when younger and NEVER thought he would be where he is today. Not a clue.

I posted this story for all of you who worry too much about your son's (or your own if you are a player) future in baseball. I am a firm believer that eventually mother nature takes her course when she wants to, for many, both mentally and physically.

For a lot of kids it's solid advice. Each individual has to assess their personal situation.
