Foul-tip

It is either a foul tip or a foul ball. A foul tip is a ball that is hit and goes straight and direct back to the catcher's hands and is legally caught. If the catcher drops it or it hits his gear or some other part of his body first it is a foul ball.

Reminds me of my sons high school coach yelling at his catcher to NOT throw to first base on a dropped third strike because first base was occupied, with two outs.

I know which qualification is NOT necessary to coach high school baseball. The one the people who hire are least interested in.......Knowledge of the game.

What purpose does it serve to belittle people who are asking questions in order learn. Are you one of those people who know everything about baseball? Are you trying to embarrass people here? In my opinion you said alot more than you know with one word "unbelievable".

Sounds a lot like my explanation. Now just what did you find so unbelieveable? The foul tip is one of the rules most commonly misunderstood so there's nothing wrong in asking for clarification on the rule.

What is sad is that there are people, coaches, parents, and fans that come on here just to be around the greatest sport in the world, to learn and give advice, and to have someone act as if they know all is detrimental to the site. If you ever think you know it all, or try to stop learning, the game will pass you by. Coach, keep posting if you are unsure, not worrying about some on here. And to think you put Tx down as to where you are from?

The idividual drills are going great. The kids are really coming along quickly using these. We're not outside yet, so we are getting alot of individual time. And, trust me, I've got alot more questions.

As they say at Bristol University.....there are no stupid questions......just stupid people who ask questions.

I love people who think they know everything and then chastise people who don't know the answer to a legitimate question meant solely for the purpose of gaining knowledge *cough*Lamber*cough* (as if we didn't know of whom I was talking). Where do they think THEY learned whatever knowledge they have? They sure as he** weren't born with it. I wonder if it could have been questions that lead to their acquisition of that knowledge...

Its my understanding that Lou Holtz never played football. I guess you could say he turned out to be a pretty good football coach. Maybe he stayed around some guys that knew the game and asked alot of (stupid questions). Im sure along the way someone made fun of him for asking questions that seemed obvious to them.

There is no such thing as a stupid question. Always remember if the question asked one wants to learn. That is what life is about.

Is it possible that the condescending Lamber has ceased learning because he certainly seems to know everything about evrything ?

TR you are absolutely right about that. You can judge a player by the kids he hangs out with just like you can judge a manager by the quality of his assistants. If you want to be special surround yourself with special people.

I came here to learn more about the game and gain knowledge that will help my sons in the long run.

Let us remember that Lamber, when asked in another thread if he considered baseball a means to learn how to cope in the workday world, replied "absolutely not"! Just how much baseball do you really know with an answer like that?
