Please don't take this the wrong way folks but lets not discourage players from attending the tryout because of the enviroment and facilities. Every player cannot play at a Texas, Baylor, Navarro, North Central, Grayson, etc. I see this as an opportunity for others. I can tell you of a 3rd round pick this year that attended Frank Phillips.

Ouch! Sorry just a weather forecast.
SWAC - I think you read more into the post than was intended, in NO way was I discouraging a player from looking at Frank Phillips ....the Texas panhandle is a fine place to live.....it was just a comment regarding the weather and I don't think it is information that they don't already know if they have done their homework or followed a weather map....

I have removed my previous post so as not to offend you or sway others.

Look at the bright side...we are "bumping" the tryout posting towards the top of the page! Smile

Houston is Humid, Dallas is Hot, and it rains alot in Seatle. Wink

My oldest son plays at FPC for Coach Simmons and he has no regrets as he looks back at his choice. As a family we were all impressed with Coach Simmon's honesty and caring for the young men he coaches. The faculty and staff at FPC are down home friendly and you feel welcomed when you visit the campus.

My son came from a large city worlds away from Borger,Texas and yes he gets bored. But he is there for an education and to play ball and I remind him of that all of the time.

As parents we felt that the integrity and knowledge of the coach was paramount to our sons development, not only as a player but as a man. We feel that Coach Simmons and Coach Gomez fill those expectations and we look forward to seeing lots of Plainsmen baseball games in 2007.
Not taking anything away from Frank Phillips JC, but there are some very good JC's in the DFW area that are very inexpensive and have had very good success against D-1 JC's in Texas and sending on their players to 4 year schools.

Eastfield and Richland have won 5 of the last 6 D-III JC National chanpionships. Eastfiled, the 2006 D-III JC National Champions, coached by Mike Martin sent 4 players to D-I / D-II schools last year and Richland sent 9 players to D-I / D-II schools in 2006.
