It doesn't seem right for us not to have a thread marking the death and celebrating the career of Frank Robinson. As one of the very best to ever play the game, as well as the first African American to manage an MLB team he's one of true legends of our game.

Here's a cool little story about the only HR ever hit out of Memorial Stadium in Baltimore, hit, of course, by #20.

Thanks for posting JCG! What a great ballplayer.

About ten years ago my son and I were invited to an NBA game, with great seats. We were sitting directly behind Frank Robinson. I whispered to my son, who was about 7 or 8 years old, "That's Frank Robinson, he was one of the greatest baseball players of all time." My son responded, in a loud voice, with that lack of a filter that only small children have, "I thought you said that Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle were the greatest players!"
