FIRST TEAM

IF BEN BEACORN Chancellor senior

Beacorn excelled on a Chargers team that upset defending state champion Powhatan in the Region I quarterfinals. He was solid on defense and at the plate, batting .447, stealing 12 bases and scoring 21 runs.

C PATRICK KUHNS North Stafford senior

An all-Commonwealth District and all-Northwest Region pick, this four-year starter had a .460 batting average and was a force behind the plate for the Wolverines. He threw out nine base runners in 14 attempts.

DH BRANDON MACK Eastern View senior

This infielder was one of four Cyclones who batted over .400 this season. His .466 average, 24 RBIs and 20 runs helped spark Eastern View to a strong finish in the Battlefield District and a berth in the Region I playoffs.

OF RYAN BROWN Stafford senior

An all-Group AAA outfielder, Brown embodied the Indians' never-say-die attitude with his aggressive play at the plate and in the outfield. He hit .415, scored 27 runs and stole an impressive 31 bases.

IF CASEY JOHNS North Stafford senior

Johns anchored the Wolverines' infield with his steady defense and was selected as a first-team all-Commonwealth District shortstop. He batted .406 and will play at Gardner-Webb University next year.

IF KYLE HAYNES Mountain View senior

This durable Haynes was one of the Wildcats' best hitters and all-around players. An all-Commonwealth District designated hitter, he hit .416 with two home runs and went 3-2 on the mound with 60 strikeouts.

OF TRAVIS THOMAS Riverbend senior

Thomas returned from an injury to become one of the Bears' most versatile players. He was the Commonwealth District's player of the year with a .493 batting average, and also posted a 7-3 mark as a pitcher.

IF RYAN MCBROOM Courtland junior

An All-Area first-team pick for the second straight year, the hard-hitting McBroom led the Cougars with a .469 batting average and drove in 24 runs. He also won two games as coach Tim Acors' closer on the mound.

P MATT HOUSTON Spotsylvania junior

The Battlefield District player of the year won eight straight games, compiled a 1.49 ERA and hit three home runs as the Knights won the district's regular-season title and advanced to the Region I semifinals.

P DANIEL KING Stafford senior

King became "Mr. Reliable" in the Indians' march to their first-ever state playoff appearance. An all-Group AAA first-team pitcher, he fueled their success with two complete-game gems in the Northwest Region tournament.

OF DEREK JUSTICE Orange junior

A first-team all-Jefferson District pitcher for the champion Hornets, Justice forged a stingy 1.29 ERA on the mound with 48 strikeouts, but was also a major contributor for coach Jesse Lohr in the outfield.

UT D.J. BROWN Orange senior

Brown was the Jefferson District's player of the year while splitting time on the hill and at first base, where he earned all-state honors. Headed to JMU next year, he batted .467, struck out 58 and pitched six complete games.

TOMMY HARRISON Stafford

In just his first year, Harrison led Stafford to its best season ever. Using his aggressive style of play, the Indians won the Commonwealth and Northwest tournament titles and made a strong showing in the state playoffs.

IF--Kevin Swope, Colonial Beach, Sr.--All-Tidewater District infielder and pitcher.

C--Allen Beall, Eastern View, Sr.--Drove in 21 runs and batted .431.

OF--Nick Lacik, Riverbend, Jr.--Solid defender, hit .457 and scored 22 runs.

OF--David Hester, Spotsylvania, Sr.--.Veteran .375 hitter for Battlefield District champs.

OF--Casey Lynch, Courtland, Jr..--.Hit 386 hitter with .580 on-base percentage.

UT--Trevor Funk, Eastern View, Sr.--Scored 28 runs for first-year Cyclones.

DH--Chris Bell, Louisa, Sr.--All-state DH with .405 average.
