Freshman Coach, Incoming freshman

This is freshman baseball, is it really that important at that level?

I suppose you can get into conflict with recruiting rules and contacts before entering high school.

I'm not the high school coach, but my assistant is. I have no idea about the rules and regulations of coaching or "scouting" incoming freshmen. I mentioned it today and was told by 2 different people to check the rules on it because they both thought it was frowned upon. I guess they feel it could taint the freshman tryouts or something.

It depends on the state. Some have noncontact rules and others don't.

Caldwell:
Any coach can work with any players until Labor Day in Kansas. After that there are strict (and ridiculous) regulations.
But your original question is about summer ball so NO PROBLEM; coach 'em up.

you are so right--I have 5 states all around me and they all have different regulations--one doesn't even abide by Federation rules
