Nothing was going right for Kellam. They did poorly at the plate and in the field. I do not think they have been "10 runned" since Coach Jones has been there. With that being said, you can be sure that they will learn from this experience.
Kempsville did well. The pitcher seemed to be hitting his spots and the bats were busy. They took advantage of the situations that Kellam offered them.
Does this win for Kempsville put them in the district tournament? I think they were in the nine spot. And yes, I realize there are still 4 or 5 games for each team.
Kempsville looked like a different team yesterday. They finally came to play. Kellam beat them in their last meeting by 1 run. If the "situations" you are talking about are having 11 hits and only allowing 3 - then I agree with you, we did take advantage. Yes - with Salem's loss to Bayside, the Chiefs tournament hopes are sill alive. We've lost several games this year by 1 run. When we keep the errors down and hit the ball it's amazing what happens!
That is what I said, Kempsville did well
1. Pitcher hitting his spots
2. Bats were busy
3. Took advantage of the situations Kellam offered them
I said them in that order.
It would be nice if Baseball Mom would identify the sophomore pitcher or the player who had the walkoff 2 run bomb.
Kellam also hit at least 3 of the Kempsville batters, had at least 3 fielding errors, and multiple throwing errors that I saw and those are the situations I spoke of.
I have not seen the stats yet in the paper so not sure how the book reads.

It really shows how impt Difelgo is to the Knights team...It seems he is a MVP candidate, without him they dont win......
Kudos to the Soph. LHP Smith and the fine Kempsville victory. Should be a great "WAKE UP" call for the over-achieving Knights. Kellam starter hit 3 batters, walked 4. Kellam defense committed a minimum of 5 errors and had @ least 3 "MENTAL" erors that led to a couple of big innings for Kempsville. S****** Chiefs with Smith on the mound can beat anyone in the district @ this point !
