I see your point because if you look at slo motion video of some of the great hitters there is a slight opening at heal plant, almost simultaneous however.

Don't you want to teach a more solid front side and rotation on heal plant to most kids under 16? It seems to me most have a lot of power leakage by a soft front side that opens early.

Yes, but with less coordinated / talented kids.

I only teach my son U11. One thing I see on other kids ( coordinated with some kind of instruction from an adult) with heel plant, front hip and launch, is they think heel plant and launch are at the same time. And it seems natural for the heel to pull the upper body into rotation. Also they see A Pujos no step mechanics and it further confuses kids to think the front heel leads to bat launch. But its significant to separate heel plant and bat launch. First this will lead to proper upper body rotation and not rotation with by the hips (I know a LOT of people disagree) . Second by separating heel plant and launch, you can hold and wait for the CU-off speed. IMO
