My son and daughter are both student-athletes at the same university. Last week my wife received a text message from my daughter "Can you bring me some baked beans?" Mildly humorous, since she had texted last semester asking for ""lima beans."

We planned a trip to take them a care package last weekend. The night before my son texted:

"Can you bring some BB's when you come?"

What's the strangest text you have received from one of your kids at college? (Yes, we took him the BB's, although I'm not sure why?)

Fenway that was funny too.
My husband has a pretty effective way to get a response. It goes something like this: Since we haven't heard from you in (insert number here) days, I assume that your cell phone has either been lost or stolen. If I do not hear from you by 5pm, service will be cut off effective immediately.

Works every time. Neither child has been brave enough to call his bluff!

Son had sworn off Facebook and it's "Relationship Status." He had been dating a girl that we liked for some time. Suddenly it appeared on their pages that "they were in a relationship."

I texted him and asked "what happened, I thought you had sworn off the "relationship" stuff?

He texted back; "Really don't know, it came on me like a storm!" His mother and I were rolling on the floor. Isn't that how it always happens, they pull those sneak attacks and you've been had!!
