If you can hit, they will find a place for you. These are 5 paths that can effectively make you a college baseball player. Through my own experiences, I have seen multiple players pursue each one of these paths successfully. So if you are a guy Atfivehundred with little overall athletic ability, your hopes are not lost in becoming a college baseball player. You just have to make the right moves.

Slightly annoying article, but he probably touches on a fundamental truth....even if its by accident.

What he's getting at is that some number of kids on the roster [5 or 10 maybe?] have talent levels that are indistinguishable from many hundreds of kids who don't make a roster.

In those cases, there has to be some basis on which to make that decision. Whether the coach likes your personality, whether your parents can help support the program, etc. etc. All of these seem to me to be legitimate reasons to choose one kid over another when baseball performance becomes equal.
