Solid, up and coming program. I know one player who committed there, says he likes the facilities.
I know that they are not fully funded for baseball scholarships.
Not fully funded. Really like the coaches there--great guys. Nice facilities, and they play a good schedule. Beautiful campus, but tough academics and admissions standards. One of the few D-1s (IMO) that is friendly to science majors/labs. Have had some kids called up to pros.
Furman was my son's #1 choice last year. He ended up going to another school, but that is a different story.
Ron Smith is a good "no nonsense" guy, straight shooter. From a father's prospective the kind of coach you want your son to play for. He has roots in Ohio and as such does a good amount of recruiting there. Like most schools, most of their players are from the area surronding the school. However, they were willing to take a look at my son which did not fit their standard recruiting profile.
I was told that the program has only 7 funded baseball scholarships. However, that may have changed given the success they have had the past few years.
This is a great school, small in size yet big time in everything they do. One of the prettiest campuses in the country in a very liveable (Greenville) town.
