Ok, So I recently made the Freshman baseball team for my school. My coach said I'm pretty good so I should be able to play a little of both during the season. But I'm nervous because I don't know if I'll make JV next year.

Only one person who played on the Freshman team last year made JV this year. And a load of Juniors got cut at Varsity tryouts. I know I should just stay focused on this year, but I'm worried about the future. I just want to play Baseball. It's pretty much the only thing I like to do.

Hey Yakyu Kid,
You've got so much time, and so much baseball before next season! My son was a freshman last year, and between his school season, and his summer legion team, he played something like 60-70 games last year. He was always on time, always prepared, and always tried to have a good attitude! For now, let next year go, and live in the moment. Show your coaches that you're eager to learn, and willing to work.
Bust your rump this season,...dont just go through the motions, I mean go all out 100% of the time. Set team standards,...practice when others aren't.
Have a good attitude. Keep up your grades.
Arrive early and leave late. Practice practice practice. Dream it,..breath it, do it.

Next year will come soon enough,..and if you do all of the above,..and I mean really really do it, you wont have time to worry about next year,..nor should you have to! You'll already be way ahead of the game!

Enjoy your year. Its good to make goals and to think about and plan on what its going to take to get there. Just make sure you do more doing, than thinking. Wink

Best of luck!!! Go show em what your made of!!!

Hang in there Kido alot can happen in a day, in a week let along in a year I'll tell you a story about myself. I was a running back at my highschool and I was the second back on the dept chart(behind a very good running) well one day the starting back was running down the hallway at school and fell(got hutr), So guess who started the next game....Yup I did and I thought I would never get to start, long story short.

The moral of the story is you never know whats going to happen Kido Oh and the running back I started for was Ricky Williams.

Never give up.
All good advice here. Stay in the now and play hard today. Remember also that you never know what the coach is "seeing" in a player...do you stand up and cheer the team even when you're on the bench...do you appear "ready" to play at every point during the game? Bat in hand or tossing a ball while you wait? Are you the first one to practice and the last one to leave? Do you mentor other players who might not be up to your speed or do you hang out with the better players exclusively? Just a couple of thoughts.Good luck and have fun!
