With apologies to all my friends that are part of Red Sox Nation, look in the mirror this morning and realize:

You are now the Evil Empire.

Your team has been purchased, with some admittedly notable exceptions. Your titles have been purchased. You are not refreshing, like the Rockies, or the Diamondbacks, or even the Indians. Even your stud pitcher who surely belongs in a higher league somewhere was purchased at a fire sale.

Your eternal misery has been ended, and your whining, weeping, and tearing of clothes is no longer necessary or cute. You are now the Evil Empire II.

Evil Empire I is melting down to your south.

Go ahead, sign a-Rod. You just know he opted out yesterday so he could take your money. If you spent 100 million on your number 3 starter, what will you give A-Rod? A deed to the Green Monster?

I hope someday my O's become the Evil Empire. We have the emperor, but not the empire. sigh......

p.s. Only 106 days till my sons open their college season.

Refreshing? I suppose not in the same sense, but we are something that the Rockies, DBacks and Indians are not--WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!

As for your alleged "fire sale", have you checked out what Hanley Ramirez has done for the Marlins since the trade? Looks to me like both teams benefited significantly from that deal.

I can understand your frustration, however. What team has a worse record with free agents, trades, and developing young pitchers than the Os????

Want refreshing? Try a Coors. Although, it may be a bit salty today from all the crying in their beer.

Our stud pitcher cost four prospects of which two of them were huge. Hanley Ramirez could be the next ARod, talent-wise. Anibel Sanchez was 12-5 two years ago before hurting his arm this year. I did enjoy Lowell as a .236, 8 homer throw in. I guess he was washed up.

Don't want him. Team chemistry counts for something. Any player who would leak his story on the day another team could clinch a World Series is self centered. MLB has rules against teams making announcements during the Series.

Your man has the money. He doesn't know how to spend it. Plus it does take developing a sound minor league system to enhance the roster and have prospects to trade for studs.

Next move: Go to the Rays and Marlins, offer three prospects (one can be Buckholtz) for Kazmir or Willis. The Rays could use three pitching prospects. Kazmir is a stud. Any pitcher who can win for the Rays is a stud.

As to my Orioles:

I humbly concur that our owner is awful, our team has done nothing, we shop unwisely, we're unattractive to the blue chip free agents, we turned the world's greatest pitching coach into a pumpkin (a little Halloween humor...), when we host the Yankees and Red Sox, Evil Empires I and II respectively, they have more fans in our stands than we do, and they clean our clocks on schedule when it counts....

...but we have a nice stadium, and without a doubt, either the Yankees or the Red Sox will be signing our pitching hope, Erik Bedard, perhaps the second best pitcher in baseball, the moment he hits free agency. Sigh.

I hope we don't have to wait 100 years for all this to get fixed. I don't have that long.

FYI, I hate the Yankees worse. I had Series tickets lined up when that little snot-nosed hero of New York kid interfered with Tony Tarasco years ago in right field in Yankee Stadium. I thought we were on our way that year. Yea, my wife says "let it go" too.

I'm one of them. It's part of my "on the road" season ticket package. We only get to Boston twice a season, one on a specific weekend (no guarantee the Sox are in town), so we see more away games than home games.
