GAME CENTRAL - Okay to Brag: Week 4

So far, JT, Jr is 4-8 this week from the leadoff slot, raising his BA to .484. Those D-I schools that wondered about his bat can stick that in their pipes and smoke it! Big 3 game tourney coming up Mon-Tue-Weds.

Son went 3-for-9 on the week with single, double, and triple, dropping average to .490, which still leads the team. Also Leads team in Hits-25, Doubles-9, OBP-.526, SLG%-.882.

Playoffs begin Thursday.

Through three games, 3-6, bb, sac, 2b, 4 rbi. perfect in the field.

WOW! Son had the game of his life tonight!!

Scored first run in first inning, second inning hit a two-run homer. We're leading 3-0. Top of 3rd inning, cross-county rivals get a run in. Our team brings in son to pitch - he ends up finishing with 7 K's, retiring 8 of the final nine batters. We were tied with this team for lst place in region; we are now # 1 in the region.

What a win for the team!!

Just wanted to compliment South St. Paul, MN player/RHP, Craig Molldrem, who had an excellent outing last night for FL Marlins affiliate, Jupiter Hammerheads. Quite an intimidating presence on mound at 6'6"/210 with "lively" 90-93FB that really moved and great hammer which was used last night as his out-pitch

Great looking prospect indeed who was taken in 8th round of 2004 draft and still young enough.

My son had to work hard yesterday, allowed only one hit, struck out 10 but walked six. At least the umpire was consistent with both teams, the zone was the size of a pea. Season stats, pitched 38 innings struck out 72 with a zero ERA. We won 2 to 1.

Son threw a complete game shutout against 2nd place team. Improved to 11-0 and 1.24

Just wanted to acknowledge the persistence and continued efforts of Chris Torres who hit two homeruns in four at-bats yesterday evening in FL playing for independent team after just being released from Detroit Tigers due to traffic jam of business investments in other players at current time. This catcher has 90MPH arm and calls a great game behind dish.
POP is always under 2.0 seconds and hitting ability is improving every day as noted in two HR's yesterday evening. The ball "jumps" off this prospect's wood bat with a nice "knock" sound !!! Will probably hear a lot more knocks in future off this fine young prospects bat !!!

I don't usually do this but I can't help but be really proud that the OU Sooners defeated the #1 Rice Owls last night in Norman 15-3 and son Ryan Mottern was the starting and winning pitcher, improving his season record to 3-1.

On one day's rest another excellent outing for Craig Molldrem who was once again in same FB range as Monday, with same effective "HAMMER"

I have to brag about something different.

My son told me last night that they got home from a Tueday night road game at 1:30 Wed morning and then he stayed up until 4am studying for a test.

He then went on to say that yesterday afternoon (after the test and brief workout) he and two other players went over to a field and put on a clinic for one of his teammate's 11 year old nephews team. He said while they were there, 3 other teams showed up to practice so they spent time with each of them also, giving some pointers.

He said he was tired last night, but he really enjoyed spending time with the kids. I guess all that time we spent talking to him about giving back to the game really paid off.

Would like to compliment MLB veteran Pat Borders who is currently catching for Vero Beach Dodgers who looks, plays and hits just like he did almost 20 years ago for World Series Champion Blue Jays. What an inspiration and don't be surprised if he gets the call to West Coast LA Dodgers before long
Now wouldn't that be something ????? Kinda reminds me of Julio and Rickey. Gamers for sure!

Three game tourney this week and JT, Jr on base EVERY AB from leadoff! 8-9 for the tourney (other was an E4), plus 3 BB, 3 SB, and 6 R. Average is now UP to .575.
